RESOLUTION NO. 14-067
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON EXPRESSING THE CITY COUNCIL'S SUPPORT FOR THE PORT
TOWNSEND SCHOOL DISTRICT #50 RENEWAL OF ITS EDUCATION PROGRAM
AND OPERATIONS LEVY
WHEREAS,the Port Townsend School District#50 ("School District") has proposed a
four-year renewal of its education program and operation levy, to be voted on by the residents of
the School District at the February 10, 2015 Special Election; and
WHEREAS, the current levy is used to support the following: educational programs such
as all-day kindergarten, art, music, drama, and innovative academic programs; extra-curricular
activities such as athletics, academic and performing arts competitions; and facilities
management and operations; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed renewal includes an increase of 34%per year to account for
inflation; and,
WHEREAS, supporting the School District's proposal is consistent with Objectives 1
and 4 of the City's 3-year Strategic Plan for the City;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
The City Council expresses its collective support for the School District's renewal levy,
being submitted to the voters at the February 10, 2015 Special Election.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 15th day of December, 2014.
