HomeMy WebLinkAbout14-066 Agreement with Peninsula College over Building 202 at Fort Worden Resolution 14-066 Page I of 2 RESOLUTION NO. 14-066 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH PENINSULA COLLEGE AND THE FORT WORDEN LIFE LONG LEARNING CENTER PUBLIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY FOR THE RENOVATION OF BUILDING 202 AT FORT WORDEN WHEREAS,Peninsula College ("College") operates an extension site at the Fort Worden State Park School House. The College expects to expand its extension site through the renovation and upgrade of another Fort Worden Building, Building 202; and, WHEREAS,the extension site is located at Fort Worden, in an area leased from the State of Washington by the Fort Worden Life Long Learning Center Public Development Authority ("PDA"). The PDA was created and its Charter issued by the City of Port Townsend, Washington("City"); and, WHEREAS, the College has asked the City and the PDA to guarantee an additional $250,000.00 in funding in order for the College to put the project out for bid; and, WHEREAS,the parties agree that it is in all of their, as well as the public's, best interests to renovate and rehabilitate Building 202, and agree to work cooperatively to secure remaining funding for the renovation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend as follows: Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to negotiate and execute an agreement with Peninsula College and the Fort Worden Life Long Learning Center Public Development Authority for the renovation of Building 202 at Fort Worden that includes a commitment from the City to guarantee, along with the PDA, an additional $250,000.00 in funding. Section 2. The City Manager is requested and directed to propose budget amendments and other legislation if required, consistent with the Memorandum of Agreement. The City Manager is authorized to enter into other agreements consistent with the intent of this Resolution unless those agreements would obligate funds in excess of the City Manager's spending authority. ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting thereof, held this 15th day of December, 2014.
