RESOLUTION NO. 14-062
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE RENEWALS OF CONTRACTS WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY FOR THE
PROVISION OF JAIL AND MUNICIPAL COURT SERVICES
WHEREAS,the City of Port Townsend ("City") and Jefferson County ("County")
entered into an agreement on September 29, 2011 under which the County provides jail services
to the City; and,
WHEREAS,the City and County entered into a separate agreement with the County on
September 29, 2011 under which the County provides municipal court services to the City; and,
WHEREAS, both of the agreements expire at the end of 2014; and,
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the contracts be renewed for an additional three-year
period, with all other terms remaining substantially the same.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to negotiate and execute a three-
year extension to the Regional Services Agreement(Jail Services) and the Interlocal
Agreement Establishing District Court Services and Compensation between Jefferson
County and the City of Port Townsend for an additional three year period. All other terms
of the agreements shall remain substantially the same as the current agreements.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to take all administrative actions
consistent with the intent of this Resolution.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Towns nd at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 1 st day of December, 2014.
