HomeMy WebLinkAbout14-055 Sale of the VIC Modular Building Resolution 14-055 Page 1 of 2 Resolution No. 14-055 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON RELATED TO THE VISITOR'S INFORMATION CENTER, AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF THE MODULAR STRUCTURE TO THE JEFFERSON TRANSIT AUTHORITY AND THE RENEGOTIATION OF RELATED AGREEMENTS WHEREAS, The City of Port Townsend ("City") and the Jefferson Transit Authority ("JTA") currently cooperate, along with the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce ("Chamber"), to operate the Jefferson County Visitor Information Center ("VIC") at 440 12th Street in Port Townsend; and, WHEREAS, As part of this joint operation, the City of Port Townsend("City") owns a commercial modular building,placed on land owned by Jefferson Transit Authority("JTA"); and, WHEREAS, JTA wishes to buy, and the City wishes to sell, the building and its fixtures, furniture, and appurtenances; and, WHEREAS,notwithstanding this change of ownership, JTA agrees to continue to permit the Chamber to operate the VIC out of the building at its present location under the terms stated in this agreement; and, WHEREAS, as required by Section 3.44.050,the City Council conducted a public hearing to determine whether the modular building should be declared to be surplus on October 20, 2014. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend as follows: 1. As provided for in Port Townsend Municipal Code Section 3.44.050(D), the City Council declares the commercial modular building, constructed by Manufacturer: Blazer Industries, Serial Number: 08 16901-01 & 02 to be surplus. 2. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a Sales and Use Agreement with the Jefferson Transit Authority to sell the modular building for One Hundred Twenty-One Thousand Dollars and no cents ($121,000.00) plus sales tax. 2. The City Manager is authorized to negotiate and execute an amendment to the current contract with the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce for the Chamber's operation of a Visitor's Information Center. 3. The City Manager is authorized to take other administrative actions consistent with this Resolution.
