RESOLUTION NO. 14-052
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, ACCEPTING A DONATION OF LAND FUNDED BY THE
JEFFERSON LAND TRUST AND RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING PRIOR ACTS
WHEREAS, on May 19, 2008, the City Council enacted Ordinance 2976, adopting the
Quimper Wildlife Management Plan; and
WHEREAS, Section 4 of that plan provides that the City will work in coordination with
the Jefferson Land Trust ("Trust")to protect property in the Quimper Wildlife Corridor
("QWC")through acquisition either of fee ownership of the property, or acquisition of
conservation easements over the property; and,
WHEREAS,on October 5, 2009, the City Council adopted Resolution 09-034, stating
the Council's intent to acquire, from willing sellers, land adjacent to identified trail corridors in
the QWC and the Cappy's Woods area; and,
WHEREAS, PTMC 3.42.060(C) requires that donations of real property be approved by
the City Council by resolution; and,
WHEREAS,certain parcels have already been accepted by the City; and,
WHEREAS,the Trust has arranged for the purchase of property located on East Sapphire
east of Mason Street, owned by the Heikes Family, which property is in the acquisition area, and
which is to be purchased for the City by the Trust using County Conservation Futures money;
and,
WHEREAS,The City Council finds that the acquisition of the property is consistent with
the QWC management plan, and that other previous acquisitions should be ratified.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a Purchase and Sale Agreement
with the Heikes family for the acquisition of this property.
Section 2. All prior acquisitions consistent with Ordinance 2976 and Resolution 09-034
are ratified and confirmed.

ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 15th day of September 2014.
