RESOLUTION NO. 14-034
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON,AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE INTERAGENCY AGREEMENT FOR GROWTH
MANAGEMENT ACT UPDATE GRANT
WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature mandates through the GMA, that all
jurisdictions, including the City of Port Townsend, review and (if needed) revise both Plan and
Code provisions to make sure they comply with the GMA, by no later than June 30, 2016 (RCW
36.70A.130(1)); and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend (City) desires to accept$9,000 in grant funds
from the Department of Commerce (DOC) for the Growth Management Act Update; and
WHEREAS, the grant funding will assist in the City's efforts to critically assess the
current applicability of the Comprehensive Plan's goals, policies and strategies; identify
mandatory revisions, and additional optional revisions that would enhance opportunities for
community success; and
WHEREAS,the Mayor provided a letter of support for the grant application on April 17,
2014; and
WHEREAS, all appropriation and grant acceptance must have Council approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is the customary designated signature for contracts,
agreements, and applications.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the grant titled "Growth
Management Act Update Grant" from the Department of Commerce to assist in the GMA
Update.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 16th day of June 2014.
