RESOLUTION NO. 14-015
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT GRANT
APPLICATIONS TO THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION AND THE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT BOARD FOR
STREET AND SIDEWALK PROJECTS
WHEREAS, the Washington State Department of Transportation(WSDOT) has issued a
call for projects under their Safe Route to School and Pedestrian and Bicycle Programs (due May
5 and 11, 2014); and
WHEREAS,the Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) has issued a call for projects
under their Urban Sidewalk Program and Urban Arterials Program (due in August); and
WHEREAS,the City has been very successful in prior years' applications under these
grant programs and a significant amount of the City's street and sidewalk projects over the last
15 years have been constructed with grant dollars that leverage limited City transportation capital
funds; and
WHEREAS,the projects selected for application this year have been identified as
priority projects in the adopted 6 year Transportation Improvement Program, the Port Townsend
Non-Motorized Transportation Plan and/or the Safe Route to School Plan; and
WHEREAS,the City Council has reviewed the list of possible projects for submittal and
authorizes the City Manager to submit grant applications for design and construction of the
following transportation capital projects:
Discovery Road sidewalk from Sherman Street to Towne Point
San Juan Avenue sidewalk on the east side from F Street to Milo Street
Sims Way sidewalk from Decatur to Benedict Street and a pedestrian crossing and light
in the vicinity of Benedict Street
Sheridan Street sidewalk from 10th to 14th Street
Discovery Road arterial improvements from Sheridan to Howard Street.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend to authorize the City Manager to submit grant applications to WSDOT and TIB for the
projects listed above.

ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 28th day of April 2014.
