RESOLUTION NO. 14-005
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON,AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE GRANT
FROM THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR
THE SAFE ROUTE TO SCHOOL AND TO AWARD AND SIGN THE DESIGN AND
CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS FOR THE SHERIDAN STREET SIDEWALK AND
CROSSING IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a Safe Route to School grant in the amount of
$497,913, with an in-kind match for sidewalk construction on Sheridan Street(14th Street to 19th
Street); and
WHEREAS, additional funds are coming from federal ($89,000) funds and City street
($20,000) and storm ($60,000) funds; and
WHEREAS, this project has been identified on the adopted Washington State
Transportation Improvement Plan 2014-2017 and budgeted within the 2014 City's CIP; and
WHEREAS, the Safe Route to School grant requires that the project be constructed by
September 2014; and
WHEREAS, the City Council must authorize the City Manager to accept the Grant from
the Washington State Department of Transportation for the Safe Route to School and award and
sign all Contracts for the Design and Construction of the Sheridan Street Sidewalk and Crossing
Improvements; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows: to authorize the City Manager to accept the Grant from the Washington
State Department of Transportation for the Safe Route to School and award and sign all
Contracts for the Design and Construction of the Sheridan Street Sidewalk and Crossing
Improvements.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 18th day of February 2014.
