A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY AND OTHER USERS FOR E-911
SERVICE, 2008 THROUGH 2011
WHEREAS, Chapter 39.34 RCW permits local governmental units to make
official use of their powers enabling them to cooperate with other localities on the basis
of mutual advantage; and
WHEREAS, the City and the County and other users agree that providing E-911
services on a regional basis will provide more efficient, effective, and less costly services
for citizens within both the City and unincorporated portions of the County, thereby better
serving the public; and
WHEREAS, it is the goal of the City and County to serve their citizens by
providing such regional type services on an equitable cost basis; and
WHEREAS, the City and the County have the technical and professional
expertise to provide services described in this Resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires by this Resolution to authorize the City
Manager to execute an agreement with the county for provision of certain regional
services as provided for below; and
WHEREAS, the current emergency dispatching agreement, unless extended or
re-negotiated, expires December 31, 2007,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend that the City Manager is authorized to execute an Interlocal Agreement
Regazding Emergency Dispatching, Communications and Other Services with a
termination date of December 31, 2011.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular
meeting thereof, held this 15th day of October 2007.
