RESOLUTION NO. 07-001
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN A GRANT
AGREEMENT WITH THE WASIDNGTON STATE TRANSPORTATION
IMPROVEMENT BOARD FOR THE SAN JUAN AVENUE SIDEWALK PROJECT
( LOPEZ AVENUE TO 47TH STREET) AND TO SIGN ALL NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS AND CONTRACTS FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF
THIS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has received a grant from the Washington State
Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) in the amount of $90,000 for the San Juan Avenue
Sidewalk Project - Lopez Avenue to 47th Street; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager must sign a grant agreement with the Washington State
Transportation Improvement Board in order to obligate these funds for the project; and
WHEREAS, the project was designated as a priority project for pedestrian improvements
in the adopted City of Port Townsend Non-Motorized Transportation Plan linking the existing
sidewalk on San Juan A venue and extending pedestrian facilities to connecting neighborhoods
and recreational facilities; and
WHEREAS, this project will be scheduled for construction in 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City Council must authorize the City Manager to sign all necessary
documents and contracts for design and construction of capital projects; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to move forward with this project from
design to construction in the most expedient manner;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manger is hereby authorized to sign a grant agreement with the
Washington State Transportation Improvement Board and to sign all necessary documents and
contracts for the deign and construction of the San Juan A venue Sidewalk Project, Lopez A venue
to 47th Street within available and approved funding.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regul
