The shear -wall indicated along grid "2 ", basement level, is not required as a shear -wall and was specified an a stiffening wall. The shear resolved is therefore redundant. No additional hold -downs or anchor bolts are required as the exterior walls (grids 1 & 3) are designed to resolve the shear. The length of the shear -wall @ grid `A' was calculated allowing for the 18 "x18" stairway windows, but were omitted from the main floor & basement plans. Sheathing specified on plans is adequate per design parameters. If installed where shown, and with the corresponding nailing, it is sufficient to resist designed loads. Measures shall include installation of silt fencing and graveled construction entrance (see attached details). Adjacent rights -of -way shall be kept free of dirt debris. Soils exposed during construction shall be temporarily stabilized with mulching, plastic sheeting, etc. Soils shall be permanently stabilized with seeding, plantings, sodding, etc. once construction is complete. Applicant is responsible for protection of adjacent properties. 3. All elements of engineering including nailing, holdowns, sheathing, and alternate braced wall panels (ABWP) require inspection prior to cover.
