GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. Contractors working on this project are required to have a Labor & Industries contractor's registration
number and a City business license. Failure to provide proof of this documentation prior to work may
result in job shut down while this is accomplished.
2. Owner or owner's agent shall review and oversee correction of any and all deficiencies noted by required
inspections.
3. Re- inspection is required after inspection report corrections are completed.
4. The Building Department is unable to pass final inspection on your project until Public Works
requirements have been completed and inspected. For Public Works inspection call 3852294. A
minimum of twenty -four hours notice is required. Public Works approval must be receivd prior to
scheduling the Building Department's final inspection.
5. Final Inspections are required prior to occupancy; A Certificate of Occupancy is required for a non-
residential project.
6. All building permits expire if no progress has been made within six months, or if no inspections are done by
the Building Department within one year. Call for at least one inspection per year to keep your building
permit active.
7. Revisions require submittal & approval prior to making changes in the field. Contact the Development
Services Department @ 379 -5095 prior to making changes to the approved plans.

FIRE ALARM SYSTEM PLAN REVIEW MEMORANDUM

RE: BLD06 -017, Fire Alarm System, Port of Port Townsend, Point Hudson Hospital
This department is in receipt of the set of plans for the above - referenced proposal from your office.
The fire alarm system proposal was reviewed by this office under the jurisdiction of the International Fire
Code [I.F.C.], 2003 Edition, and NFPA 72. The following constitutes this department's findings and
determinations based upon the plans of record submitted.
Findings, Determinations, and Requirements:
1. The proposal was reviewed as a Group B occupancy; and,
2. An automatic fire detection alarm system is proposed for this occupancy by the proponent, and is thus
subject to Section 907 of the International Fire Code; and,
3. The fire alarm system plan is found to be designed by a licensed alarm technician under the
provisions of National Fire Code 72 and related sections; and,
4. The fire alarm system shall be installed by a licensed alarm technician under the provisions of
National Fire Code 72 and related sections; and,
5. Visible alarm devices are found to be located in all public common areas, consistent with IFC Chapter
907.2.1.1; and,
6. Manual fire alarm devices shall be mounted at least 42 inches and not more than 48 inches above the
floor, with the exception of "accessible" rooms, which shall meet accessible room requirements from the
International Building Code and Washington State Amendments, [IFC 907.4.2]; and,
7. The proponent has not indicated fire alarm zones on the plan set. Each floor shall be zoned
separately and a separate zone for the accessory building [laundry] per IFC 907.9; and,
8. The intermediate hallway doors, and the second floor stairwell door shall be provided with magnetic
mount door holders tied to the fire alarm system, and;

9. The annunciation panel and associated controls shall lock -in until the system is reset and shall not be
canceled by the operation of an audible -alarm silencing switch [IFC 907.9.1]; and,
10. The system may be monitored by an approved remote agency [IFC 907.15]; and,
11. The fire alarm system shall be acceptance- tested in the presence of this office or the building official
[IFC 907.17]; and,
12. A formal confidence test report shall be provided for this system after satisfactory acceptance testing,
with copies to this office [IFC 907.18]; and,
13. A complete set of as -built drawings of the completed system shall be provided on -site, and an
architectural CD provided this office for emergency response use, if available [IFC 907.19].
Any other applicable or relevant sections of said Code not covered herein shall nonetheless apply to this
proposal.
2.0 hours time was consumed in the review of this proposal.
It is the administrative determination of this department that the proposal be approved subject to the
aforesaid requirements.
Two sets of approved plans and specifications are included for return to the fire alarm system contractor.
