HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-013 Concerning Council priorities RESOLUTION NO. 06-013 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, CONCERNING COUNCIL PRIORITIES WHEREAS, on February 6, 2006, the City Manager reviewed with Council the City's "2006 Work Plans;" and WHEREAS, on February 13, 2006, the Council reviewed work plan matters; and WHEREAS, on February 27, 2006, Council reviewed Council priorities, and Councilors provided rankings on matters set forth on "2005/2006 Capital Projects and Policy Initiatives - Council Priority Rankings" (Exhibit A, attached), and listed new initiatives for potential inclusion in the 2006 work plan as shown on "Council Suggested Initiatives Ranking" (Exhibit B); and WHEREAS, on April 20, 2006, Council reviewed work plan priorities, and new initiatives not previously evaluated/ranked, and Councilors provided rankings on initiatives to the City Clerk, and didn't rank certain initiatives that are already underway as part of the work plan, and determined certain items should not be scheduled for further action (as shown on Exhibit B); and WHEREAS, Council determines it appropriate to confirm the rankings of the matters reviewed and ranked by Councilors as set forth above, and to give direction to the City Administration concerning rankings as set forth in the Resolution. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend as follows: 1. City Council confirms the ranking of the matters set forth in the following documents (attached and incorporated by reference): a. "2005/2006 Capital Projects and Policy Initiatives - Council Priority Rankings" (Exhibit A); b. "Council Suggested Initiatives Ranking" (Exhibit B). 2. The rankings should be used by Council and City Administration in prioritizing work plans and actions on policy initiatives (or amendments to policies and regulations), projects and budget implementation for 2006 and for 2007. 3. In addition, the City Manager is directed to utilize the rankings in preparing and presenting to Council supplemental budget requests (consistent with the rankings) for the 2006 approved budget necessary to carry out projects in 2006, and further, in preparing and presenting the City Manager's proposed budget for 2007 (consistent with the rankings). 1 Resolution 06-013 4. Nothing in this Resolution prevents revisions to rankings, and/or specific direction to the City Administration on specific matters, by future Council action.
