RESOLUTION NO. 12-027
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR A GRANT
FROM THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION,
PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend submitted a grant application to the Washington
State Department of Transportation for the Pedestrian and Bicycle Program for 2012; and
WHEREAS, Pedestrian and Bicycle Program grants are awarded for improvements that
improve conditions for biking and walking using the "complete street" model to safely meet the
needs of pedestrians, bicyclists, transportation user and improve environmental impacts; and
WHEREAS, the City's grant request is to complete sidewalks, bicycle lanes and
crosswalk upgrades servicing the Hospital District on Sheridan Street between 6th Street and 10"'
Street ; and
WHEREAS, the City's grant request is for$250,000, and with the TIB grant of$110,000
there would be a City/Hospital/County match needed of$249, 048; and
WHEREAS, the grant period is from September 2013 through September 2015; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for the Washington State
Department of Transportation, Pedestrian and Bicycle Program grant for Sheridan Street.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 16th day of July 2012. 00
