ON 913368 e CITY Of" PORT TOWNSEND Port Townsend planning Commission April 1, 1977 Honorable Mayor City Council Members City of Port Townsend Gentlemen: At the regular March 28, 1977, meeting of the City Planning Commission, the following requests were heard and recommendations made: APPLICATION NO. 137 - Augusts Ozols P. O. Box 116 Taken from table. Rezone request for property located at Tx. 146, Section 2, Township 30 N, Range lW; cross street "F" Street, from R-I to R-II, for the purpose of building a four-plex. Since the Commission found that the property was divided in a manner conflicting with Ordinance 1671 of the Subdivision Ordinance, the request will remain on table until the complications are resolved. APPLICATION NO. 138 - Cecil and Luneta Thelen 57th & Landes Request to vacate Landes from 57th to 58th Street. The Commis- sion voted unanimously to recommend to the City Council the street vacation be approved for the following reasons: traffic pattern is not such that the City would need the street, nor will it be; this would not landlock any property. APPLICATION NO. 139 - Anthony E. Stroeder 1730 Hill Street Request to rezone property facing Sheridan Avenue between 7th, 8th, 9th, and Grant Street, Eisenbeis Addition, Blocks 221 and 209, Lots 1 thru 8, from R-II to R-III. A public hearing was set for Thursday, April 28. APPLICATION NO. 136 - Anthony E. Stroeder 1730 Hill Street Taken from table. Request to vacate alley at 23rd & 25th, between Sheridan and Hendricks. The Commission voted unanimously to recommend to the City Council the alley be vacated, since it appears present alley serves no general public use. ·, ".t" /'" ;. , - . e Mayor/City Council April 1, 1977 Page 2 APPLICATION NO. 140 - Mr. & Mrs. Alan Minish 1155 Wilson Variance request for no setback on side property line; twenty- two foot setback on one side of property line; leave garage as built, with three inch setback on side property line. The Commission voted unanimously to recommend to the City Council the request be approved as not to do so would be undue hardship on owner who acted in good faith and there is sufficient room between this house and the next for fire purposes. All members were present, except Mrs. Yandell. The minutes of February 28 were approved. APPLICATION NO. 137 - Augusts Ozols P. O. Box l16 Taken from table. Mr. Ozols was present and the discussion which followed produced the infor- mation that the property in question was divided in a ~anner conflicting with Ordinance 1671 of the Subdivision Ordinance. Proposed use: multiple-family, professional offices and clinic. Previous application (#131) was taken before the City Council where he was advised to resubmit application, adding Block #221. A public hearing was set for Thurs. April 28. APPLICATION NO. 136 - Anthony E. Stroeder 1730 Hill Street Motion by Smith/Campbell took this from table. VOTE: yes 5 no 0 Request for alley to be vacated at 23rd & 25th, between Sheridan and Hendricks. After discussion with Mr. Stroeder, Campbell/Wightman moved to recommend to the City Council the alley be vacated, since it appears the present alley serves no general public use. Chairman Marsh read two letters pertinent to this request. One was from City Engineer French to Minish; the other from Terry DeLeo to Minish. After discussion with Mrs. Minish, Wilson/Campbell moved to recommend to the City Council the request be approved. PAGE TWO - MINUTES OF MARCH 28, 1977 The Commission received a letter from the City of Port Townsend, dated March 2, 1977, requesting their recommendations on the proposal to allow mobile homes in certain areas of Port Townsend: "an area bounded by Discovery Road to San Juan, 49th to Cook Avenue, to the Ci ty Limi ts " . This was turned over to the Steering Committee for further planning and a recommendation to be made at the public hearing which has been set for April 28. Notification of hearing will be placed in The Leader three weeks prior to the hearing. An environmental checklist will be developed by the Steering Committee with input from City Engineer French; it will be signed and submitted by Chairman Marsh.
