AT THE REGULAR OCTOBER 25, 1979 MEETING OF THE CITY PLANNING
COMMISSION THE FOLLOWING REQUEST WERE HEARD AND RECOMMENDATIONS
MADE:

STREET VACATION 1408 SIMS WAY
PORT TOWNSEND
STREET REQUESTED FOR VACATION SEVENTH STREET BETWEEN HENDRICKS
AND SHERMAN. THE COMMISSION VOTED TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY
COUNCIL APPROVAL OF APPLICTION NO. 7910-01 AS IT COMPLIES
WITH ITEMS 3 THRU 6 OF SECTION 5.20 OF ORDINANCE NO. 1802 WITH
THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS.AS STATED IN THE LETTER FROM THE CITY
ENGINEER TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION CHAIRMAN DATED OCTOBER 19TH
AND THAT THESE CONDITIONS BE MET WITHIN SIX MONTHS AFTER THE
VACATION OF THE STREET.

REQUEST IS FOR A VARIANCE FROM THE HEIGHT REQUIREMENT TO 56~
FEET TO CONSTRUCT A WINDMILL. THE CQMMISSION VOTED TO RECOMMEND
TO THE CITY COUNCIL APPROVAL OF APPLICATION NO. 7910-02 FOR
THE FOLLOWING REASONS AS STATED IN SECTION 6.10A OF ORDINANCE
NO. 1625: THAT THE GRANTING OF THE VARIANCE WILL NOT BE
MATERIALLY DETRIMENTAL TO THE PUBLIC WELFARE OR INJURIOUS TO
THE PROPERTY OR IMPROVEMENTS IN THE VICINITY AND ZONE IN WHICH
SUBJECT PROPERTY IS SITUATED; AND THAT THE GRANTING OF THE
VARIANCE WITH THE GENERAL PURPOSE AND INTENT OF THIS ORDINANCE
WILL NOT BE INJURIOUS TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD, OR OTHERWISE DETRIMENTAL
TO THE PUBLIC WELFARE WITH THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: THAT THE
REQUIREMENT ASKED FOR BY THE CITY ENGINEER THAT THERE BE SOME
INDICATION FROM THE PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER INVOLVED IN DESIGNING
THE MACHINE THAT IT WILL BE SAFE UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT IT
IS GOING TO BE INSTALLED AND THAT IT COMPLIES WITH THE STATE
ELECTRICAL STANDARDS.

OCTOBER 25, 1979.
CHAIRMAN SMITH CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER.
MEMBERS PRESENT: KILHAM, SULLIVAN, CAMPBELL. DUDLEY, HENDERSON,
SMITH. ALSO PRESENT: ROGER FRENCH, CITY ENGINEER.
THE MINUTES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 27TH MEETING WERE READ AND APPROVED.
CORRESPONDENCE: CHAIRMAN SMITH READ A LETTER FROM THE DEPARTMENT
OF ECOLOGY ESTABLISHING STANDARDS FOR COMMERCIAL CLAM HARVESTING.
OLD BUSINESS: CHAIRMAN SMITH ASKED THE COMMISSION MEMBERS TO
LOOK OVER THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND SEE WHAT REVISIONS THEY
FEEL SHOULD BE MADE AND HAVE THEM READY FOR DISCUSSION AT THE
NEXT FEW WORKSHOPS SO WE CAN COME UP WITH SOME TYPE OF DRAFT.
