RESOLUTION NO. 11-034
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ADVERTISE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE WATERFRONT
ESPLANADE PROJECT, PHASE 2
WHEREAS, in July 2008 the City of Port Townsend acquired the 2008 Council Bond
for specific projects in the Historic Downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the Waterfront Esplanade Project, Phase 2 is the final downtown project
funded by the 2008 Council Bond, implementing the waterfront improvements as designated in
the East Downtown Streetscape Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Madison Street Improvements Project provided an opportunity to
complete a portion of the Waterfront Esplanade Projects in conjunction with that project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend received federal and state pen-nits for the work
in the shoreline that allows the demolition and fill of the Tidal Clock; reinforcement of the
seawall between City Dock and the Quincy Street Dock; and removal of the old dock that is
adjacent to the old ferry ramp. The project is scheduled to be completed in late December 2011;
and
WHEREAS, Phase 2 of the project will include completion of the surface and esplanade
improvements of the waterfront area between Pope Marine Building and Quincy Street; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to move forward with this project
construction in the most expedient manner; and
WHEREAS, to meet the project schedule, the City will solicit bids in December in
conformance with City and State public works bid laws in a fair and timely fashion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
The City Council of Port Townsend authorizes the City Manger to advertise for the construction
of the Waterfront Esplanade Project, Phase 2.

ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 7th day of November 2011.
