City of Port Townsend
PORT TOWNSEND POLICE DEPARTMENT
The role of the Port Townsend Police Department is to protect the citizens of Port Townsend and its
visitors. The Department’s responsibility is to provide assistance to the public and to gain their co-
operation and compliance with established regulations, ordinances and laws.
Currently the Port Townsend Police Department has 13 career commissioned officers:
1 Chief of Police
1 Administrative Sergeant
2 Patrol Sergeants
1 Detective
1 School Resource Officer
8 Patrol Officers
The department maintains 24 hour staffing 365 days a year. In the last five and a half years, offic-
ers have responded to just under 64,500 incidents ranging from traffic stops to felony crimes against
people. No Port Townsend Police Officer has discharged his/her firearm against a person in more
than a decade.
There are many ways to learn about your police department—from volunteer and reserve opportuni-
ties to the ride along program. Participants in the Citizen’s Academy learn about the criminal justice
system and are afforded the opportunity to join the ranks of our dedicated group of police volun-
teers. Each year our volunteers donate their time doing parking enforcement, vacation house
checks, clerical tasks and event staffing. Without them, many of the services the police department
provides would not be possible.
For more information on the Citizen’s Police Academy, contact Sgt. Ed Green at 531-2091 or
egreen@cityofpt.us. For information on the reserve officer program, contact Officer Patrick Fudally
at 531-2937 or pfudally@cityofpt.us.
If you lack the time to volunteer, or simply want to see your police department in action, come to the
office at Mountain View Commons, 1925 Blaine St., #100, or call 385-2322.

The Port Townsend Public Library is an integral part of our community. Every day more than 500 people use its resources
and programs. We have heard from many library patrons – We need more space. That is the purpose of the Library
Campus Project which includes expansion of the current Carnegie Building and remodeling of the Pink House to accom-
modate popular Library programs. Construction on the Pink House project is the first phase of the Project and we have
planned a “Library Complex Construction Kick-off” celebration on August 27, from 1-4 p.m. at the Library. Please join us
for to mark this exciting beginning.
The Library Foundation is committed to raising $1 million from individual pledged donations by the end of 2011 and we are
halfway there. Individual donations will be supplemented with funds from federal and state grants, private foundations,
individual and corporation donations, and local tax sources. Just imagine, if every library card holder donates $25 a year
for the next 3 years, we would reach that goal. Thank you to those individuals who have made pledges and contributions
already. We invite all library users to contribute and be part of this legacy.
Please donate through the Library Foundation’s website at http://ptpubliclibrary.org/SupportYourLIbrary/
LibraryFoundation.html, or mail your pledge card and check to the PT Carnegie Capital Campaign, P.O. Box 857, Port
Townsend 98368. Checks should be made out to the Port Townsend Library Foundation. Donations are tax deductible
to the extent allowed by law.
