RESOLUTION NO. 11-003
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR UNITED
STATES SENATOR MARIA CANTWELL'S OFFICE APPROPRIATIONS REQUESTS
FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE CARNEGIE LIBRARY SEISMIC RETROFIT
AND EXPANSION; THE HOWARD STREET ARTERIAL CONNECTION; AND THE
PORT TOWNSEND EAST HISTORIC DISTRICT REVITALIZATION PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend desires to apply for appropriation requests
through United States Senator Maria Cantwell's Office for the Port Townsend Carnegie Library
Seismic Retrofit and Expansion; the Port Townsend Howard Street Arterial Connection; and the
Port Townsend East Historic District Revitalization Project; and
WHEREAS, all appropriation and grant applications must have Council approval; and
WHEREAS, it is a requirement of this grant program to document application
authorization by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is the customary designated signature for contract,
agreements and applications,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
1. David G. Timmons, City Manager for the City of Port Townsend and Alternate Kenneth
Clow, Public Works Director for the City of Port Townsend, are hereby authorized to execute
for and on behalf of the City of Port Townsend, a local government entity established under
laws of the State of Washington, this application and to file in the Office of United States
Senator Maria Cantwell for the purpose of obtaining certain federal assistance;
2. The City Council of the City of Port Townsend hereby authorizes its agent to provide to the
Office of Senator Cantwell for all matters concerning such appropriations assistance the
assurances and agreements required.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 24th day of January 2011.
