A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF WASHINGTON
INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION FOR FUNDING ASSIS-
TANCE THROUGH GRANT-IN-AID.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend has approved a "Comprehen-
sive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area which identifies a potential
community park site on Cherry Street in the northern part of the City as a number
one priority; and,
WHEREAS, under the provision of the Marine Recreation Land Act, state and federal
funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the
development of land for parks and the construction of outdoor recreational facili-
ties of local municipal corporations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend considers it iN ~hetbest
public interest to develop a community park in the northern part of the city gener-
ally north and east of Cherry Street and Q street, to be known as Cherry Street
Park;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend,
Washington,

- That the Park Board of the City of Port Townsend be authorized to make formal
application to the State of Washington Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation for funding assistance,
II - That any funding assistance so received be used in the development of approxi-
mately two acres of land in the northern part of the City of Port Townsend,
north and east of Cherry Street and Q Street, pursuant to the Action Program
of the City of Port Townsend Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Plan,
III-That any property developed with the financial aid through the Interagency
Committee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor recreation
facility and be retained in such use as in perpetuity unless as otherwise
provided and agreed to by the City Council, the Interagency Committee for
Outdoor Recreation, and any affected federal agency, and
IV - That this resolution become part of a formal application to the State of
Washington Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
