A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE SITING OF AN
OIL PORT ON THE INLAND WATER OF THE STATE
WHEREAS, tourism, fishing, and marine related businesses
are vital to the economic well being of the community; and,
WHEREAS, the health and general well being of the citizens
of the community depend upon the quality of our marine environ-
ment; and,
WHEREAS, the possibility of oil spills and chronic leakage
pose an unacceptable risk to the well being of the community,
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend opposes the siting of an oil port and oil transshipment
pipelining in the inland waters of the State of Washington.
