A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN
A LETTER OF INTENT TO NEGOTIATE WITH UNION WHARF ASSOCIATES
FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT OF UNION WHARF
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend (hereinafter "City") is a
part owner of the Union Wharf dock located on the waterfront of
Port Townsend, Washington; and
W~EREAS, the City desires that the Union Wharf facility be
restored and put to productive use for the benefit of the
citizens of Port Townsend; and
WHEREAS, Union Wharf Associates (hereinafter "UWA"), a
limited partnership with headquarters located in Seattle,
Washington, is a commercial development firm composed of
individuals who are experienced in redevelopment and restoration
of historical commercial structures; and
WHEREAS, UWA has presented a proposed redevelopment of Union
Wharf and has made certain applications which are necessary
to proceed with the proposed project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend
adopted on October 7, 1986, Resolution 86-30, authorizing the
Mayor to enter into lease negotiations with UWA for Union Wharf;
and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 5013, permitting local governments to
vacate streets which abut salt or fresh water, has recently been
passed by the Washington State Legislature and signed into law by
the Governor; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the Mayor is authorized to sign a certain Letter of
Intent, substantially in the form attached hereto as Attachment
A, to enter into negotiations with Union Wharf Associates for the
redevelopment of Union Wharf.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and
