A RESOLUTION authorizing the City of Port Townsend to apply
for grant funding for the Transportation Enhancement Program
administered by the Washington State Department of
Transportation for reconstruction of Keamey Street.
the City of Port Townsend proposes to reconstruct Kearney Street
from Port Townsend Bay to Blaine Street; and
the State of Washington Department of Transportation has
approved the use of Federal Arterial Urban Street (FAUS) funds
for the overall project as outlined; and
additional funding is required to undertake and complete the
project to include adequate provisions for bicyclists and
pedestrians; and
the Transportation Enhancement Program provides funding for
enhancement activities related to any active or completed
transportation project which involve or have involved the use of
federal transportation funds and may occur coincident to a project;
and
"Transportation Enhancement Activities" means provision of
facilities for pedestrian and bicycles, landscaping and other scenic
beautification and mitigation of water pollution due to road runoff;
and
provision of pedestrian and bike lanes, protecting and enhancing
Kah Tai Lagoon park, and treatment of roadway stormwater are
essential activities to the comprehensive improvement of Kearny
Street; Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
that the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for Transportation Enhancement Program
grant funding with the Washington State Department of Transportation for supplement
grant funding of the Kearny Street project.
