RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN AGREEHENT WITH THE UNITED STATES
?GEOLOGICAL SURVEY FOR THE INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF THE STREAM
FLOW GAUGES.
River flow data is of vital importance to the City of
Port Townsend, and
The City wants to pursue proper planning and operation of
the water system, and
The collection of this data is essential for the
protection and maintenance of the City's water rights,
and
There is increasing need to control and regulate river
flow to benefit wild and hatchery runs of salmon, and
Installation and operation of stream flow gauges on the
Big and Little Quilcene Rivers by the United States
Geological Survey was requeSted by the City of Port
Townsend and the Chelan Regional Planning Group, and
The cost of the operation and maintenance of the gauges
February 01 through September 30, 1994 is $8,180.00, and
By agreement, the City's share of the cost of that
installation is $4,090.00, with an estimated annual
operation cost of $5,000.00
NOW THEREFORE
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend
that it authorizes the Mayor to sign an agreement with the United
States Geological Survey for the installation and operation of the
stream flow gauges.
