A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
SUPPORTING THE 1996 REPLACEMENT LEVY FOR MAINTENANCE AND
OPERATIONS FOR PORT TOWNSEND SCHOOL DISTRICT#50.
WHEREAS, the democratic process and specifically local government relies on an educated
citizenry; and
both the City of'Port Townsend (hereafter referred to as the City) and Port
Townsend School District #50 (hereafter. referred to as the School District) desire
to develop an educated work force for the future; and
WHEREAS, the City is an active member and supporter of the School District Vision Design
Team; and
the City and the School District have worked to develop a partnership that
provides for coordination and cooperation between the two entities, in order to
maximize benefits and reduce costs to the community; and
WHEREAS, the City and the School District are working in parmership to provide a
recreational and pool program for the Community; and
WltEREAS, the City and School District, through the use of combined resources are providing
expanded oppommities for youth recreation; and
WHEREAS, both the City and the School District are jointly addressing youth issues in the
Community; and
the City and the School District are supporting a mentorship program, including
the Water Quality program that benefits the City, the School District and the
student citizens of the community.
N O W T H E R E F O R E
Be It Resolved that the City Council of the City of Port Townsend by action of this resolution,
supports the School District's efforts to pass the 1996 School Operations and Maintenance Levy
in order to support school programs and further the ability of the City and the School District to
continue and enhance joint programs that benefit the Community.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor this 1.6th
day of January 1996.
