A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING
ASSISTANCE FOR THE UNION WHARF PROJECT TO THE
INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION (IAC).
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has approved a Comprehensive Parks Plan and Urban
Waterfront Plan for the area that includes Union wharf and the downtown district; and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of 1 215, '~Boating Facilities", state and federal funding assistance
has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land and facilities for local
public bodies; and
WHEREAS, the city of Port Townsend considers it in the best public interest to develop boating
access in the downtown district;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City of Port Townsend, Waghington:
That the mayor be authorized to make formal application to IAC for funding assistance
That any fund assistance so received be used for the development of the Floating dock,
Fender Piles, Benches, and a portion of the Restroom for Union Wharf

That the City of Port Townsend share of project funding will be derived from matching grants
The City of Port Townsend does hereby certify that it its responsible to support all non-cash
commitments to the local share should they not materialize
That any property acquired or facility developed with LAC financial aid will be placed in Use
as an outdoor recreation facility or habitat conservation area and be retained in such use in
perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the City of Port Townsend, LAC,
and any affected federal agency
That this resolution become part of a formal application to LAC
That adequate notification has been given and the oppommity provided for public comment
and that published notices have identified affected flood plains and/or wetlands
That the site plan has been adopted by the local governing body
That the City of Port Townsend does certify that it is the owner of the land to be developed
and based on current knowledge, provides assurance there are no encumbrances on the land
which would restrict the recreation or habitat conservation use of the land as proposed in this
application.
