Port Townsend Public Works Standard Details General Construction Notes 1. Licensed and bonded contractor shall obtain approved Street & Utility Development Permit from port Townsend Public Works (PTPW) prior to commencing work. Contractor shall arrange a pre- construction meeting with designer and PTPW, and shall provide approved set of these plans at this meeting. Contractor shall work with surveyor and/or designer to stake-out features detailed in these plans, in advance of construction. 2. Contractorshall haveexistingutilitieslocatedpriortobreakingground(Call 800-424'5555or81 1 three days in advance), and shall be responsible for protecting all existing utilities. 3. Contractor shall notifiy PTPW to arrange inspections at various stages of construction. After final inspection of allwork detailed in these plans, contractor shall obtain from the City a list of incomplete items or defective work, and shall immediately take necessary measures to complete work or remedy deficiencies. 4. All materials and workmanship shall conform to state and City standards. 5. Contractor shall remove debris from adjacent streets and ROWs daily during construction. 6. Contractor shall maintain a set of drawings on-site and shall note horizontal and vertical positions of all utilities encountered and installed. 7. Owner/applicant shall provide As-Built record drawings to Public Works upon completion of construction. 8. Contractor shall provide trench shoring, safety systems and personal protective equipment per Washington State L&l requirements, whenever trench depth exceeds five (5) ft. 9. Asphalt requiring cutting shall be cut neatly, and repaired per City requirements. 10. Contractor shall furnish and install 14 gauge coated copper wire, wrapped around water & wastewater pipes, brought up, coating stripped, and tied off at the valve stem (or MH ring) AND shall furnish and install to Public Works' and manufaciurer's requirements 12 inches to 18 inches below final ground surface continuous Terra Tape "D" or approved equal 4" wide plastic non-biodegradable metal core, marked and color-coded tape detectable by a standard metal detector. 11. Contractor shall provide a traffic control plan to PublicWorks. Once approved, contractor is responsible for notifying the Police Department Fire Department, city crews, Jefferson Transit Authority, Port Townsend School District, and any other affected parties, regarding traffic revisions at least two business days in advance of construction. Access to adjacent properties and adjacent driveways in the immediate project vicinity shall be maintained to the maximum extent possible 12. Generating noise or disrupting traffic may only occur during DAYLIGHT between 0700 and 1900. Temporary Erosion & Sedimentation Control Notes 1 . Mark Clearing Limits prior to removing topsoil and vegetation. 2. Establish Gonstruction Access lf construction access to the subject parcels is needed during the wet season, a coarse gravel de-mudding area shall be provided. 3. lnstall Sediment Controls such as a surface sod berm silt barrier or silt fence downhill of areas of proposed disturbanoes. 4. stabilize soils stabilize temporarily exposed soib by hand-watering and establishing living cover with grass and ground-covering vegetation as quickly as possible. Hand-water soil piles as needed during dry season. Divert stormwater discharges away from soil piles during wet season 5. Control Pollutants Prevent discharge or release of all pollutants, including motor oil and construction debris. lnstruct all personnel as to this policy 6. Maintain TE&SC Features All Temporary Erosion & Sedimentation Control Features must be inspected regularly, and maintained & repaired as needed 7. Manage Project Assess conditions regularly and adjust construction stormwater management features as needed 8. Full Site Dispersion All site activities and future site development shall comply with WA DOE's BMP 5.30 Full Dispersion Sanitary Sewer Construction Notes: 1. The city shall be given 72 hours notice prior to scheduling a diversion of wastewater flows. 2. During the construction of mains and services, the contractor shall cap, plug, or secure the ends of such lines whenever the project is shut down 3. All lines shall be tested in conformance with the standard specifications. Prior to final acceptance of all installations, the city reserves the right to conduct an inspection of all main lines by the use of television equipment 4. The city construction inspector shall be notified a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the time that the connection to the existing main.. 5. Prior to backfilling, all sewer lines and appurtenances shall be inspected and approved by the City's inspector. Approval shall not relieve the contractor for coirection of any deficiencies and/or failure as determined by subsequent testing and inspections. lt shall be the contractor's responsibility to notify the city for the required inspections. 6. Any required changes from these plans shall be approved by the Public works Director prior to construclion. 7. The proposed gravity sewer main extension must be staked by survey for line and grade priorto starting construction. Sheet 1 of 5.
