A RESOLUTION adopting personnel policies for employees
of the City of Port Townsend.
growth of City government, coupled with an increased number of labor and
employment laws and regulations, has added to the complexity of day-to-day
management for City employees, particularly supervisors; and
it is desirable to have a set of personnel policies on hand to serve as a general
guide to the City's current employment practice and procedures; and
the Mayor has recommended a Personnel Policy Manual following an extensive
review process by an employees' Personnel Policy Advisory Group which based
its work on current city policies and sample policies prepared for the Association
of Washington Cities and with assistance from the staff and legal counsel of the
Washington Cities Insurance Authority; Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND that the
City of Port Townsend Personnel Policy Manual is hereby adopted substantially in the form
appended hereto as Attachment A; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is hereby authorized to modify these policies,
except that the City Council, by ordinance, shall enact any changes in compensation or benefit
levels.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend in regular session assembled this
2nd day of June ,1997.
