A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AND SUBMIT A PROPOSAL TO THE
PUGET SOUND WATER QUALITY TEAM (PSWQAT) PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT AND
EDUCATION (PIE) FUND TO DIRECT A WETLAND PLANTING AND EDUCATION
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, SEPA mitigation requirements for the San Juan Avenue Improvements Project
require that the site be revegetated and a monitoring program implemented; and
WHEREAS, the City would like to train and supervise volunteers to perform these duties; and
WHEREAS, the City would like to construct interpretive signs and provide public education
needed for the long term health of the wetland; and
WHEREAS, the City has no funds available for this project; and
WHEREAS, PIE Funds are available for such projects.
N O W T H E R E F O R E
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that it authorizes the
Mayor to submit a proposal to the PSWQAT to apply for PIE funds.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor this 5th day
of January, 1998.
