A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
TO FUND THE POLICE STATION PROJECT FROM A COMBiNATION OF THE
SALE OF DECLARED SURPLUS ASSETS, SAViNGS FROM THE CITY'S
OPERATIONAL BUDGET AND A DEBT VEHICLE (BOND).
WHEREAS,
the City Council has met in committee forum and reaffirmed the high priority of
providing a new police facility for the city and discussed funding mechanisms at
length; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has recognized the need to seek avenues of funding which will
minimize the burden upon city taxpayers; and
WHEREAS, identification and analysis of city-owned property assets has been identified as a
council priority; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of using city operations and
maintenance funds as efficiently as possible; and
WHEREAS, the City Council also realizes that some form of a debt vehicle will be needed to
complete the funding package; and
WHEREAS, all these funding mechanisms should be explored and some contribution from
each category represent the final funding package for the police station;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that
the police station project should be funded from a combination of the sale of declared surplus
assets, savings from the city's operational budget and a debt vehicle (bond).
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor on this
second day of February, 1998. '
