A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A PERSONAL SERVICE CONTRACT WITH
THE PUGET SOUND WATER QUALITY TEAM (PSWQAT) PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT
AND EDUCATION (PIE) FUND' TO DIRECT A WETLAND PLANTING AND
EDUCATION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, SEPA mitigation requirements for the San Juan Avenue Improvements Project
require that the site be revegetated and a monitoring program implemented; and
WHEREAS, the City would like to train and supervise volunteers to perform these duties; and
WHEREAS, the City would like to construct interpretive signs and provide public education
needed for the long term health of the wetland; and
WHEREAS, the City has no funds available for this project; and
WHEREAS, PIE Funds are available for such projects with no local match required,
N O W T H E R E F O R E
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that it authorizes the
Mayor to sign a Personal Service Contract with the PSWQAT to accept PIE funds in the
amount of $26,746 for the Wetland Restoration and Public Education Program at Froggy
Bottoms.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor this 4th day
of May, 1998.
