Exclusivity •Accessibility •Right of way connections •Equality of access & planning for all (challenge entitlement) •Protecting natural resources •Enhancing habitat & environment •Educational opportunities •Wellness for all •Central park/central theme for town •Easy to maintain •Complementary to our whole park system–fill the gaps •Stats of driving range v. rounds sold •Planning for diversity of community •Enhance experience for newer demographics •Creating spaces that are inclusive for everyone •Look beyond the status quo •Adjacencies & complementarity •Dispel misinformation MTN View: •The pool is important; it’s not regulation size •Accessible •Expanding the YMCA and improving its sustainability •Expanding community outreach What would be a great fit? •Garden •Open green space •Turf field •Trail around the property •Bowling alley/active indoor rec/skating rink •Community garden •Increasing economic development (employ people!) •Interpretive trail/habitat education •Honor indigenous plants and culture & keep them alive here •Affordable housing (not sure where? Not golf course) DECISION MAKING CRITERIA Class 1 •Inclusive Open Spaces •Safe for all ages •Recognize that it is centrally located between schools •Environmentally sustainable •Low maintenance •employment/economic opportunities •Consider current uses o i.e. PTHS Golf Team o Tourism at golf course? o Honoring tourism + increasing marketing •Complementary uses to other parks in our system/Unique identity •Demographic data–capturing diversity? Building community?-- comparative analysis of the demographics of golf course use v. community demographics •How to increase usage of the property •Preserve open space •Enhancing health and wellness •Central park–utilize the central nature of the location •Consider adjacencies •How to keep the park from being a homeless camp site? Safety •Look beyond the status quo MTN View: •The pool is valued •The environment around the pool needs improvement •The pool should be regulation size •Keep the community hub with openness for lots of different activities •Dog park isn’t adequate/improve What would be a great fit? •Indoor tennis court •Electric golf course •Amphitheater •More inviting playgrounds (mtn view playground is useless) •Sports complexes/fields •Mtn bike park (pump track @ fairgrounds) •Open space •Shade & trees, more aesthetic design to invite relaxation •Green spaces are important to our community identity •Community Garden + Low Impact Trails DECISION MAKING CRITERIA Class 2 •The community won’t get behind giving up the green space •Use other land first •You can’t get open space back and people who want to live here want green space •Need more housing villages that are not 55+ •Could be enough room for both; Mtn View campus could have some affordable housing •Repurposing the fairgrounds?
