Vegetation: Alnus rubra (FAQ, Sium suave (OBL), Equisetum teimateia (FACW), Typha latifolia (OBL), Rosa pisocarpa (PAC). Flag #2 Drainage is 12 feet wide at this point. Flag #3 Vegetation: Alnus rabra, Agrostis stolonifera (FACW *), Gallium trifidum (FACU) Flag #5 Vegetation: Salix lasiandra (FACW +), Salix scouleriana (FAQ, Ranunculus repens FACW), Veronica sp.( ?) Flag #6 Drainage 8.5 feet wide at this point. Flag #7 Vegetation: Alnus rubra, Agrostis stolonifera, Ranunuculus repens Flag #9 Soils: Moist to surface; 2.5Y 5/2 Flag #13 Vegetation: Alnus rubra, Oenanthe sarmentosa (OBL), Montia sp.( ?) Flag #15 Vegetation: Juncus effusus (FACW) Oenanthe sarmentosa memorandum C7L MEMORANDUM Page 2 June..14, 1994 Wetland 4 is an approximately 1700 square foot, highly distrubed, Scrub Shrub wetland. A culvert that crosses Sims Way drains into the wetland at its northeast corner. The water drains north to south. Young Red alders dominate the drainage with a few willow spp. interspersed. A variety of emergents line the substrate. Sims Way borders the wetland on the northern boundary. The eastern boundary is bordered by fill placed at the site for a recently constructed parking lot and shopping center. The southern boundary of the drainage corridor has been cleared of vegetation and the soils have been disturbed by heavy machinery. Soils were moist in this area and may have seasonal hydrology. The western boundary has a 200 - 300 foot wide forested buffer with a clearcut beyond. The wetland is not large enough to be regulated under the The City's ESA Ordinance; however, it does meet the criteria of a Critical Drainage Corridor. Site #2 (a forested wetland located west of Howard Street easement, approximately 300 feet southwest of Wetland 4) Wetland vegetation: Populus trichocarpa (FAQ, Populus tremuloides (FAC +), Alnus rubra, Salix scouleriana, Spirea douglasii (FACW), Rosa nutkana (FAC), Carex obnupta OBL), Pteridium aquilinum (FACU). Upland vegetation: Alnus rubra, Salix scouleriana, Arbutus menziesii, Sambucus racemosa, Holodiscus discolor, Symphoricarpos albus, Pteridium aquilinum. Wetland Flag #1 Evidence of standing water with water stained leaves and bare ground. Soils: color change at 7 ", hard pan at 8 "; At 7" - 2.5 Y 612 The source of hydrology for this wetland is seasonal stormwater with water collecting in a depressional area with hardpan soils. The wetland edge follows an abrupt slope break. The wetland area is approximately 45 feet x 105 feet, and does not appear to meet the minimum size criteria of 5000 square feet for a Category II or III wetland under the City's ESA Ordinance. Site # 3 (Wetland located on Howard Street easement approximately 114 mile north of Sims Way). Vegetation: Salix sitchensis (FACW), Spirea douglasii, Rosa nutkana, Symphoricarpos albus (FACU), Carex obnupta, Carex deweyana (FACU *). memorandum MEMORANDUM Page 3 June 14, 1994 Hydrology: The site probably has standing water part of the winter; however, the water is probably not present for more than 10 days at a time. Soils: Loamy /sand texture; Colors reach chroma of 2 or less at 9 "( +); however, soils of Ioamy /sand texture require evidence of seasonal hydrology; therefore, this site does not meet the hydric soils criteria. . The wetland has potential as a future mitigation or stormwater detention site. . - The asterisk following some indicators identifies a tentative assignment based upon either limited information or conflicting reviews. memorandum
