Adjourn Civil Service Commission Minutes (date) Page 1 of 1 Civil Service Commission Minutes Date: June 2, 2021 Time: 3:30 p.m. Location: Via Conference Call Members Present: Gail Ryan, Richard Knight Members Excused: Sherry Erickson was not present Staff Present: Chief Examiner Robin Hake, Chief Olson Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 3:31 p.m. Approval of Minutes Motion to approve minutes of January 20, 2021 passed unanimously. Public Comment None Action: Approve Lateral Officer Eligibility List Motion passed unanimously to (verbally) approve Lateral Police Officer hiring eligibility list; and written approval to be sent to Chief Examiner Robin Hake following adjournment of meeting (due to remote format). Action: Approve changes to police clerk application and testing process Motion passed unanimously to approve scoring of the Police Clerk applications. Candidates with ranked application scores of 1 - 8 will advance to the written test. The weighting of the written test (30%) and oral board examinations (70%) remains the same as those used previously for police clerk, as does the passing score (75%) for the written test. Information: Police Department Recruitment and Update Chief Olson reported 3 Officer vacancies, one of which is a sergeant opening, plus there is 1 unfunded Officer position for a total of 4 Officer vacancies. He shared that an Officer is on another agency’s hiring list and may be hired within the next 4- 6 weeks. There may also be a retirement at the end of the year, so we may need to fill 5 or 6 positions this year. The Community Services Officer position is currently being covered by a 4-month temp contact and we now have a contact with the County for animal control services.
