A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON DECLARING THE OFFICIAL POSITION REGARDING GLEN COVE
UGA STATUS UNDER THE JEFFERSON COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
AMENDMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has been and will continue to participate in the
process to amend the Jefferson County Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds Scenarios I and II specifically to Glen Cove are not
consistent with adopted plans, policies and service commitments of the City of Port
Townsend; and
WHEREAS, the City Council also finds the need exists to begin a long term strategy of
extending the City's UGA boundary to include the Port Townsend Paper Company
industrial sites,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council recommends to the Jefferson County Commissioners by
way of the City's steering committee members support for the establishment of a Glen
Cove UGA that is consistent with the City's adopted Comprehensive Plan, policies and
service commitments.
SECTION 2. Further, the City Council directs the City Manager to coordinate with the
City's Planning Commission on maps identifying a Glen Cove UGA boundary consistent
with the plans, policies and service commitments of the City of Port Townsend, and to
present this modified scenario to the City's steering committee for their introduction to
the process.
SECTION 3. Further, the City's steering committee and City Manager continue to
discuss with Jefferson County and representatives of Port Townsend Paper Company on
future consideration of an expanded Glen Cove UGA that considers the industrial land of
Port Townsend Paper Company.
