NOTICE OF LAND USE APPLICATION AND
MEETING OF THE CITY'S DESIGN REVIEW ADVISORY COMMITTEE
City File No. LUP21-057 – Safeway Signage Departures
Proposal: The request seeks Commercial Design Review departure approval for a series of
replacement signs at the Safeway grocery store, 442 W. Sims Way. Specifically, the departure
request involves several signs where the finished installation will exceed prescriptive code limits
for both height (17 feet tall is the standard) and illumination area (25 sq. ft. per storefront is the
standard).

Design Review Advisory Committee (DRAC) meeting: As submitted, the project requires
approval of a Type II Commercial and Mixed-Use Design Review permit. As part of this
permitting process, a recommendation of the City's DRAC is required. The DRAC’s review and
recommendation for this project will occur at a public meeting held remotely via Go To
Webinar on Wednesday, October 8, 2021 beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Persons wanting to participate in the Oct. 8, 2021 DRAC meeting have the following options:

ID 956-664-531. Members of the public may be unmuted at the time for public
comment.

For Persons Wanting to Submit Written Comments only, the deadline for doing so is October
12, 2021. Any person has the right to review information available concerning the project,
submit comments, request a copy of the decision once made, and appeal the decision.
Unless appealed, there is no public hearing for this project. Written comments must be
received by the Development Services Department no later than 4:00 p.m., October 12, 2021.
A final decision on the application will be made within 120 days from the date of the
determination of completeness.
