A RESOLUTION OF TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND AFFIRMING THE ACTION TAKEN BY THE CITY COUNCIL AT
THE PUBLIC MEETING ON OCTOBER 25, 1999, REGARDING THE SIMS
WAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS,
The City Council held a duly noticed facilitated open public hearing on October
25, 1999, to consider the scope of the proposed improvements to Sims Way
(SR20); and
based upon the testimony and record established during the public hearing, the
council made certain decisions regarding the funding for various components of
the project; and
WHEREAS, the council wishes to reaffirm the motions made at the public hearing during a
regular business session;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that:
Section 1.
The City accept $400,000 from the Washington State Department of
Transportation for the Howard to Thomas Street project including a two way left
turn lane, widening and access control.
Section 2.
The City accept $400,000 from the Washington State Department of
Transportation to develop and augment bicycle travel from the state ferry
terminal in Port Townsend to the city limits and beyond.
Section 3.
The City accept state and federal funding for all other proposed aspects of the
Sims Way Improvement Project, including the asphalt overlay of SR19 to the
ferry terminal within existing paving limits, Hancock to Hendricks Street left
turn lane, turn pocket into Jefferson Transit base and access control; Hancock to
Hendricks street curb and sidewalk and in-pavement lighted crossing; and
shoulder widening on the south side of Sims Way from Sherman to Cleveland.

Section 4.
The City Manager will presem final decisions on design and scoping for the
council's review; any outstanding issues will be appealed individually.
