PORT TOWNSEND The City of Port Townsend is opening the Mountain View Pool for the PT High School
Swim team starting Monday 2/8/21, made possible by strong partnership with the Port Townsend School
District and hard work of the pool staff. An agreement based on historic precedent allows the district to
provide their own certified lifeguards and oversight for their use of the pool for swim team practice and
their compressed season.
Meanwhile, City staff will continue to prepare for reopening to the public. On Monday night, City Council
rd
voted unanimously to allow the City Manager to negotiate a contract with a 3 party provider to ensure
the procedures, protocols and practices for safety are in place and that staff are trained and ready. With
below minimum staffing levels currently, the City will only be able to open to the public when enough
trained/certified staff members can provide adequate coverage.
