RESOLUTION NO. 20-061
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, TASKING THE PLANNING COMMISSION WITH REVIEWING A
PROPOSAL TO ADOPT A CODE AMENDMENT TO PORT TOWNSEND
MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 17 TO ALLOW ZERO LINE LINE/COMMON
WALL CONSTRUCTION
WHEREAS, several tasks related to affordable housing have been identified on the
Council's Strategic Plan and onthe City Manager's work plan;and,
WHEREAS,the City has already taken concrete steps to address affordable housing,
such as identification of surplus property suitable for affordable housing use,deferral of system
development charges,utility connection charges, and permit fees and development code
amendments; and,
WHEREAS, Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the City to prioritize
and assign certain issues related to housing to the City Council Housing Committee;
WHEREAS, at a regularly scheduled meeting on October 15, 2020, the City Council
Housing Committee reviewed proposed code amendments related to housing and passed a
motion to recommend that Council task the Planning Commission to review and make a
recommendation on the proposal to adopt a code amendment to Port Townsend Municipal Code
Chapter 17 to allow zero lot line/common wall construction;
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, the Port Townsend Planning Commission is tasked to review and
make a recommendation on a proposal to adopt a code amendment to Port Townsend
Municipal Code Chapter 17 to allow zero lot line/common wall construction.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 16th day of November 2020.
