RESOLUTION NO. 20-057
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE ADDITION OF THE PUBLIC EXPERIENCE
LIAISON AND THE CREW CHIEF APPRENTICE - STREETS/STORM/SEWER TO
THE CITY'S POSITION CLASSIFICATION LIST AND THE UNION WAGE SCALE
WHEREAS,the City of Port Townsend is seeking ways to improve the public experience in
interacting with City staff, and,
WHEREAS, City staff is also considering the future re-opening of public facilities to the
public and how to ensure City facilities are compliant with any COVID-19 safety restrictions; and,
WHEREAS, the City is seeking opportunities to increase efficiency, cross training,
succession planning, and sustainability; and
WHEREAS,the City plans to consolidate administrative support functions to a new"front
counter"that will be staffed by three people who can answer questions and direct the public to other
staff members, if needed; and,
WHEREAS,the City is seeking ways to allow future growth and training for the members of
the Public Works Streets crew; and,
WHEREAS, the new Public Experience Liaison positions and the changes in the Streets
Crew support the City's goals of efficiency and sustainability; and
WHEREAS, the new positions need to be included in the Teamsters Local 589 general
government salary schedule;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend to authorize the City Manager to add Public Experience Liaison and Crew Chief
Apprentice - Streets/Storm/Sewer to the City's job classification list and the general government
wage classification scale.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 2,d day of November.
