Home My WebLink About00-056RESOLUTION #00-056 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD AND EXECUTE CONTRACTS FOR WATER LINE EXTENSION AND REPLACEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE YEAR 2000, TO THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE RESPONSIVE BIDDER, AND TO TAKE ALL NECESSARY AND PROPER STEPS TO CARRY OUT THE CONTRACT, INCLUDING APPROVING APPROPRIATE CHANGE ORDERS. WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of improvements and upgrades to the water distribution system; and WHEREAS, Council has approved the budget for water distribution system improvement projects through the Capital Improvement Projects portion of the Fiscal Year 2000 Final Budget; and WHEREAS, the upcoming water system distribution projects were prioritized by Public Works Staff and are included in the 2000 Work Plans; and WHEREAS, City staff have completed the design for the Jackson Street water line extension and bids are being solicited in conformance with City and State public works bid laws in a fair and timely fashion and staff may complete additional projects depending on remaining funds and available resources; and WHEREAS, the City Council must authorize the awarding of bids for any project over $20,000 and may delegate and authorize the City Manager to award the contract; and WHEREAS, the approved budget for water distribution system projects for 2000 is $70,000. NOW THEREFORE Be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Por~ Townsend authorizes the City Manager to award and execute the contracts for water line extensions and replacement projects for the year 2000 to the lowest, responsible, responsive bidder and to take all necessary and proper steps to carry out the contract, including approving appropriate change orders that do not exceed the amount previously authorized by Council for this line item in the approved budget.
