A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, PROVIDING COMPOSITION, TERMS OF OFFICE AND
PROCEDURAL RULES FOR THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Ordinance 2760 on March 19, 2001, removing
provisions relating to composition and terms of office for the Historic Preservation Committee
from the Port Townsend Municipal Code in order to provide these matters by Council resolution,
consistent with Council Rules of Procedure and rules contained therein applicable to citizen
advisory boards; and
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution 01-012 on March 19, 2001,
establishing general rules governing citizen advisory boards.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
SECTION 1. ESTABLISHMENT, AUTHORITY AND SCOPE OF WORK
The Historic Preservation Committee was established by Ordinance 2035, codified in PTMC
2.72.010, with authority and function as provided in PTMC 2.72.060, as amended. The
Committee shall be subject to the general provisions in Article 4 of City Council Rules of
Procedure pertaining to General Rules Applicable to Citizen Advisory Boards, and this
Resolution, including any amendments thereto.
SECTION 2. TERM OF COMMITTEE - SUNSET PROVISION.
This committee shall constitute a standing advisory board, subject to further city council
ordinance or resolution. No sunset provision is established.
SECTION 3. MEMBERSHIP
The committee shall consist of not less than five members and not more than seven members.

SECTION 4. TERMS OF OFFICE.
The term of office shall be three years, except that the initial appointments shall be staggered
from one to three years so that no more than three members shall have their terms expire in any
one year.
ADOPTED by the City CoUncil of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 19th day of March, 2001.
