Tree Risk Assessment Final Written Report
I, Che Taylor, find that the black walnut tree assessed at 1839
Lawrence St. on 05/08/2019, has an overall low likelihood of failure &
impact effecting the targets assessed in the next 2 years.
The dead hanging limbs throughout the crown on the west side of the
tree pose a moderate risk, potentially effecting the powerlines and
parked cars on Walker St & in the driveway.
This tree has an overall low risk rating.
Mitigation Options:
1: Removal of dead hanging limbs in crown Residual risk Low
2: Prune deadwood over 3 inches in diameter & Residual risk Low
reduce select limbs over power line on west side of crown.
3: Inspect again in 2 years Residual risk Low
Comments: This tree is estimated to be around 100 years old. Black
walnut ( Juglans nigra ) has a potential longevity of over 150 years
when conditions are suitable. This tree has been given ample growing
space and soil conditions are fair. Overall vigor is normal and the tree showed no signs of pests or disease. Any cavities from previous branch
failures appeared to have good reaction growth. Deadwood spread
throughout the crown is natural, but the dead hanging limbs over the
power lines should be removed. Reduction pruning of larger limbs
directly overhanging the powerline is also recommended.
