Documentation as to true date of origin is still being pursued to verify exact details as to dates, construction cost and)original size. The house was added on to and used continually until about. 1978, at which time several forclosures and some remodeling left it mostly vacant and open. Children played in it and teens had a few to many cigaretts and burned part of it down. Some time passed and after a Young boy was injured it was declared unsafe and bull dosed down. The property had been paired down to only four lots; But still retained all of the orchard and shrubery as well as a couple of outbuildings. It changed hands a few times with most owners doing little but raising the price, In 1982, Al ice Lombard purchased Lots 17- 18 and began to bui ld a house. She with city approval Had Jerry Lindsey Excavating Bring the sewer on site on a side sewer contract. She got it hooked up to her trailer and kind of jury rigged it up to the house. She Paid for a water tap and had it installed. About this time she started to lose her ability to deal with life and got seriously into drugs and alcohol. She never paid her water and sewer bi l is ' or taxes and developed several liens for services. When the city shut off her water she simply turned it back on, sometimes even cutting the city locks. When that was to no avail she hooked up to an old wooden water main and used the water until about the regrading of the street. She lived 1 n the house such as i t. was w i t.h her ch i 1 dren f or severa 1 years. She so 1 d the property without recording the sales several times, but finally lost it in three separate forclosure actions by the county, Marie Hayford and Jim & Jen 1 f er Shrout. I purchased e t, to stop the f e na i f orc 1 osure as e t a l so I ncumbered Lots 19-'210 which I had purchased several years earlier from the Shrouts. The house was built as an eficent.cy dwelling as described in the codes of the time. It Has energy saver thermal windows and has all vapor bariers and tyvek wrap as appropriate for the time. The water tap needs only to be turned back on to have two sinks, a shower and a flushing toilet.. A full foundation is required for further financing and a wiring inspection will follow a panel upgrade and change in service entry. A retaining wall will provide offstreet parking and improve a safety problem on site.
