Minutes of the Port Townsend Arts Commission Meeting of July 3, 2019 LOCATION: City Hall Conference Room 3
MEMBERS PRESENT: Dominica Lord-Wood, Owen Rowe (Chair), Shelly Leavens, Kris Morris, Dan Groussman, Stan Rubin,
Nhatt Nichols, Maryann Tapiro and Becky Busi. MEMBERS EXCUSED:

Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action
Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 3:02 p.m.
Approval of Agenda
The agenda was approved with adding an item F: Update on
Public Art.
Approval of Minutes for June 3, 2019 Minutes not approved, need to be revised and will approve at August meeting.
Public Comment Jen Dimon-Hardesty discussed the opening of her new dance studio.
Mark Blatter commented on Arts Commission future projects.
Chair’s Update and Announcements Mr. Rowe informed the Commission that he is running for
City Council, unopposed.
Budget Update
The Commission has paid out $1645 Mandala. There is a
balance of $1,405 in the Arts Commission general fund.
Funding Application: Swan School Dana presented to the Commission to waive fees for the Cotton building rental for a gallery experience for students.
The Commission voted 6-0 unanimously to fund $200 from the PTAC fee waiver fund.
Angel and Patron of the Arts update The Commission is planning to have this event in the Fall. Mr. Rowe will look for some possible dates in October, available dates will be brought back to the Commission to
finalize at the August meeting.
Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action
Outreach Committee Update
The Outreach Committee is still working on updating the
forms. The next meeting was scheduled for June 17, 2019.
Public Art Update
The “For Willene” sculpture will be sited at the Visitor Center Location. Electrical work is being undergrounded and Willene is drafting words for the plaque, which will come back to PTAC for review. The dedication for the
sculpture will be November 2, 2019.
Creative Districts Application Update There is a committee that is working on pushing processes
ahead. The next meeting is scheduled for August 7, 2019. The goal from this committee is do have a simple application to get a creative designation in the City and establish that designation. This committee hopes to submit the application in September.
