RESOLUTION NO. 19-049
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A STIPEND
AGREEMENT FOR THE CITY MANAGER TRANSITION
WHEREAS,the City of Port Townsend is recruiting a new City Manager who is
anticipated to start in early fall 2019 without an overlap with the current City Manager;
WHEREAS, the current City Manager has twenty years of institutional knowledge and
history with the City, and his final day with the City is June 30, 2019, and,
WHEREAS, the City wishes to retain the services of the current City Manager to assist
in the transition should the new City Manager or Acting City Manager require such a resource of
historical and City knowledge, and
WHEREAS,the current City Manager has agreed to a stipend agreement for $3000 a
month for up to twenty-five hours per month of consultation and special projects for the City, for
a term of six months, and
WHEREAS, the agreed-upon sum is commensurate with, and in lieu of, the cost of
providing COBRA insurance for one year as previously committed by Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
The Mayor is directed to execute a stipend agreement with David Timmons to act as a
consultant to the new City Manager or Acting City Manager during the City Manager transition
for six months at a rate of$3000 a month.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a special business
meeting thereof, held this 10th day of June 2019.
