WSDOT 2018 Standard Specification shall be followed for removal and installation of the permanent
marking. Also incorporated into the Contract Documents by reference are:
• Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, currently adopted edition,
with Washington State Modifications, if any.
• Standard Plans for Road, Bridge and Municipal Construction, WSDOT/APWA, current edition
• City of Port Townsend Engineering Design Standards
DIVISION 1
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Description of Work
(March 13, 1995)
This contract is for the Work of approximately 225,200 linear feet of white edge line (4 inch and some 6
inch) and 135,000 linear feet of yellow center line and shall include all labor, equipment, paint and glass
beads necessary to restripe the City streets. The paint shall be Ennis Traffic Paint (Low VOC solvent-based
paint) and there are areas of skip line painting and continuous line painting throughout the city. The
approximate paint quantities are: 750 gallons of Ennis HWVW1-325 white paint and 400 gallons of Ennis
HWVY3-325 yellow paint. The City will furnish one person to ride in the striping truck to insure completion
and accuracy of the City-wide striping. The Work shall be completed no earlier than August or later then
the end of September, as weather permits. The preferred timeframe is around the middle to third week
of August. The Work shall also include the placement and pickup of protective cones, and any other work,
all in accordance with the attached Contract Plans, these Contract Provisions, and the Standard
Specifications.

8-22 Pavement Marking
Section 8-22.3(3)D Line Applications is supplemented with the following:
Pavement markings shall be retro reflectorized. Equipment shall be capable of painting a reasonably
clean-edged Stripe, ± ¼ inches, and shall have a bead dispenser directly behind, synchronized with the
paint applicator. The stripe shall be protected until dry. Paint and beads shall be applied within the
following limits:

Beads: 7 lbs. 8 lbs.

The measurement for the “Pavement Marking will include mobilization, labor, traffic control, glass beads,
paint and freight charges as specified including any applicable taxes to complete all striping included in
this work.
