RESOLUTION NO. 19-032
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE NAME OF THE NONMOTORIZED
TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY BOARD AND ADDING A LIAISON TO THE
PARKS, RECREATION, AND TREE ADVISORY BOARD
WHEREAS,the City Council adopted Ordinance 2760 on March 19, 2001, removing the
Nonmotorized Transportation Advisory Board from the Port Townsend Municipal Code in order
to allow its reformation by Council resolution, with the goal and intention being to give more
flexibility to the Council to assign tasks and provide direction to boards formed by the City
Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council established the Nonmotorized Transportation Advisory
Board by Resolution 01-017 and expanded its membership by Resolution 02-010; and
WHEREAS, the City Council Committee on Committees recommended expanding the
scope of the Nonmotorized Transportation Advisory Board by renaming it the Active
Transportation Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, the Committee on Committees also recommended that the Nonmotorized
Transportation Advisory Board and the Parks, Recreation, and Tree Advisory Board mutually
appoint liaisons to the other board;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
SECTION 1. NAME AND MISSION.
The Port Townsend Nonmotorized Transportation Advisory Board is renamed as the Active
Transportation Advisory Board and will serve as an advocate for and implementation of the Port
Townsend Nonmotorized Transportation Plan. In this capacity the Board will promote pedestrian,
bicycle, electric bicycle, and other forms of active transportation as viable transportation choices
in Port Townsend.
Volunteer Projects. The Nonmotorized Transportation Advisory Board may actively participate in
volunteer nonmotorized transportation projects, as described in the Port Townsend Nonmotorized
Transportation Plan, and will promote and coordinate volunteer projects for the installation and
maintenance of the City's nonmotorized transportation system.
SECTION 2. LIAISON
The Active Transportation Advisory Board will select a member of its board to serve as the
liaison to the Parks, Recreation, and Tree Advisory Board. The liaison will serve as a conduit of
information and will coordinate initiatives and policy between the Active Transportation

Advisory Board and the Parks, Recreation, and Tree Advisory Board when the missions of the
two boards overlap. The liaison may attend the meetings of the Park, Recreation, and Tree
Advisory Board, but will not be a voting member of the Parks, Recreation, and Tree Advisory
Board.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 1 st day of April 2019. }
