NON-MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY BOARDMEETING MINUTES

AGENDA ITEM ACTION
Approval of Minutes:
January 3, 2019 minutes were unanimously
approved.
City Council Agenda Bill AB19-018:
Motion was approved to recommend to Council
The changes that would result from the revised resolution, were reviewed by the submission of comments/feedback on
Councilmember Amy Howard. In summary the new resolution would convert the Non-proposed changes to its resolution
Motorized Advisory Board to the Transportation Advisory Board. Amy emphasized that this
.It was also pointed out that there could be a liaison for Non-Motorized
group on the Parks Board and vice versa. A conversation also ensued about whether trails
should be called recreational or for transportation. After this presentation and the
opportunity to ask questions, Amy excused herself. The Board deliberated on
Recommendations.
Overall, the group did not want to be converted to a Transportation Advisory Board.
Public comment
: Comments were provided by Scott Walker which stated that calling trails None
recreational will not absolve the City of liability should a problem occur on a trail.
Comments were also provided by Lys Burden. She thought that the NMTAB needs to
maintain focus, and if they are converted to a Transportation Advisory Board they will be too
diluted.
Safety surveys update:
Joe Finn presented the findings from the safety survey conducted The group agreed that Joe would contact Laura
on Saturday January 19, 2019. The Board agreed that the next step would be to observe with a date for the next safety survey meeting.

observations would be documented. It was also discussed to explore how to modify the
survey form to better serve future safety surveys.
Overview of new roles for staff liaison:
Laura Parsons reviewed the new roles of the None
staff liaison, which include preparing packets, agendas, and taking minutes.
Jefferson Street Sidewalk Extension Project Update:
Laura Parsons reviewed the None
Jefferson Street Project features and announced that the project is complete.
Next Meeting:
The next regular meeting will be March 7, 2019. Remaining Old and New None
Business Items from the February meeting will carry forward.
Public comment:
Scott Walker commented that the group may want to use the Safe Lys agreed to provide a list of the crosswalk
Routes to School survey instead of the AARP survey, which was used on 1/19/19. Lys locations to Sam and Laura.
commented that the Chetzamoka Trail group had identified the need for crosswalks at
multiple locations.
