RESOLUTION NO. 19-010
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AND SUBMIT
AN APPLICATION FOR PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT FUNDS FOR THE 7TH
STREET CORRIDOR CONSTRUCTION
WHEREAS, the Public Infrastructure fund is a Jefferson County-administered fund
consistent with RCW 82.14.370 that is dedicated to financing public facilities serving economic
development purposes; and,
WHEREAS,the City of Port Townsend has committed to the economic development of
the Rainer Street and Upper Sims Way area including a$10 million redevelopment of Rainier
Street and the creation of the subarea plan; and,
WHEREAS,the City's previous investment in the area has already increased the economic
viability of the area with the opening of several new businesses; and,
WHEREAS, the development of the 7th Street corridor further enhances the area's
economic potential that is geared toward small-scale and artisan manufacturing;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, as follows:
1. The City Manager is authorized to execute and submit an application to the Jefferson
County Public Infrastructure Board seeking $300,000 in grant funds for the design and
construction of the 7th Street corridor to include two travel lanes, sidewalks, a multiuse
path, and landscaping.
2. The City Council allocate additional funds for the project upon receipt of the grant.
ADOPTED by the City Council of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 22nd day of January 2019.
